1. What really inspired you to write your book, to force you from taking an idea or experience and conveying it into a book?
I wanted to make readers aware of the great struggle going on between the US and China for world domination. I wanted them to learn that the Chinese government is doing significant spying in the US and could influence a US presidential election.

2. What is it about and whom do you believe is your targeted reader?
It is about espionage and power struggles at the top of our government in Washington. My targeted audience is anyone who wants to read a fast moving suspenseful page turner that has ideas and substance. Also, Washington Power Play has compelling characters, particularly Kelly Cameron, the FBI agent and single mother who is the protagonist.

3. What do you hope will be the everlasting thoughts for readers who finish your book?
What should remain with them long after putting it down?
I hope my readers will become aware and recall that the Chinese government has grown increasingly powerful on the world stage. It is critical that the US government come to grips with the competing power of China.

4. What advice or words of wisdom do you have for fellow writers?
Washington Power Play is my thirteenth novel.  I would advice my fellow writers to maintain their passion for writing. Recognize that writing a novel takes time and hard work. Even if you suffer setbacks or rejections, persevere and keep writing to fulfill your dream.

5. What trends in the book world do you see and where do you think the book publishing industry is heading?
The major trend is the growth of e books which I believe will continue to be a considerable part of the market, particularly in the thriller genre. With the addition of e books, it is possible to reach a wider audience. I see continued expansion of both print and digital books.

6. What great challenges did you have in writing your book ?
The challenge that I face is the one confronting all thriller writers today. We must develop a creative plot, with compelling characters, that is not merely a rehash of the news.  I wanted to inform readers while providing a story that kept them up at night turning pages.

7. If people can only buy one book this month, why should it be yours?
My book, Washington Power Play is an insiders view of Washington that presents intrigue and revenge at the highest levels in the US government. A reader will not only be entertained, but the reader will also be informed.
